I agree with you, I have the same situation as you...I returned my Stiletto about 6 weeks ago for the same reasons you listed. There is no good explanation as to why Sirius won't let the WiFi stream come thru at the full bit rate. I have been using SiriusWM5 on my Treo to listen while driving, and the thing sounds perfect at 128kbps, no signal drop at all...
I also went ahead and got an S50 since they dropped so much in price and I was having to listen to recorded material anyways. But I will say, if the Stiletto does get an upgrade in the future to the Premium stream, I will buy another one, because then the device would be perfect!
