XM Satellite Radio is now the exclusive satellite home of the NHL, broadcasting around 1,100 league games per season and a 24-hour nationwide hockey radio channel, Home Ice. Content on the channel will include commentary, interviews and play-by-play from hockey pros like Phil Esposito, Bill Clement, Denis Potvin and Gary Green. The 2007-08 NHL season is XM's third season of coverage and its first season as the exclusive league provider. XM's deal with the league will run through 2015.

This has been widely known for quite sometime. This past season was supposed to XM's first as exclusive, but due to the lockout, Sirius had it another year.

The NHL gets beat in the tv ratings by the wnba, Sirius subs aren't losing out by not getting to hear hockey. Bettman killed the league.

Hockey is just not a national sport (in my opinion) like the NFL, MLB or NBA.

How is there a bandwidth issue? They transmit what they transmit now with no issue, merged they will cut channels that overlap thereby freeing up bandwidth. If anything there will be more available.

"merged" That hasn't happened yet. XM already sounds like shit and when they add the SEC big12 and a new music channel its going to have to pull bandwith from somewhere.

that would be a great way to think if they were actually going to combine bandwidth.... being that they can't do that however..... bandwidth issue.
