Default QUESTION: Sirius streaming shuts off

I was listening to sirius on the computer while looking at the backstage forums. Every hour or so a box would pop up asking me to click on it if i was still listening. If i didn't click on it, the sirius radio shuts down.

Is there some reason for this? If i'm not sitting at the computer the radio is going to shut down every hour? I like to have it on while I go about my business around the house and having to turn it back on every hour is a pain in the butt. What gives?

This is because there are people out there that once they get connected rather they are listening or not, they never disconnect. This way it allows everyone the opportunity to connect without them using bandwidth that isn't needed by computers sitting with no one listening.

Just my opinion but if you really want to listen uninterrupted the best method is to get a tuner and subscription. The internet access is secondary. Just so you'll know there is a limit as to how many times in a day that you can log in as well. I think it is 10, but I am not sure.

I use it when I am in various offices and I don't have a problem with it asking me if I am still listening. I"d rather than to try and log in and not be able to get connected becaue there are bunch of people out there not listening, but logged in.

Thanks for the responses. I already have two subs so I think I should be able to listen to the computer stream rather than dropping another $100 for the home kit. I don't think it's too much to ask to be able to move about the house while listening either. I guess we have differing opinions on this matter. Still, I appreciate the input.

Oh, and my pop up blocker is on. Does nothing for this problem.

Yes, If everyone was responsible and didn't just leave these things on for days on end this wouldn't be an issue. This is a situation where the bad always make it hard on the good ones. I don't differ with you in terms of being able to listen to it while moving around the house, but every hour you just have to remember to tell it you want to continue. Pain in the butt, but that is the price we pay for all those folks that never want to disconnect.

The problem with pop up blocker is you have to allow sirius to POP UP the
listen window. Then you can add it as don't allow popus I think.

I listen to it at work using FireFox and I don't really mess with the pop
up stuff here. At home, I know I have gotten it to work with IE by turning
on the pop up blocker.

Thanks, Schultz. I'm not the most savy at this computer stuff, but I have a freind who is way into it. I'll see if he can use the info you've provided to get the blocker to work.
