Howdy!

I have had my s50 for years now. I never had a problem with the love button till the beginning of last week when the channels updated. Now when I hit the love button I get the same message I got when I tried to save a show once. I say tried once because I did not save that show and I never tried to save a show again. So now when I hit the love button I get a message similar to - hit love button to set beginning of recording and if I hit the button again it states to hit the love button to mark the end of recording. This happens on all stations, though once on the first day it started working correctly, but that did not last.

Any ideas?

Stiletto 100 is doing the same thing - I wonder if it has to do with some licensing nonsense since the merger...

Mine started doing it just today.
I haven't used my S50 for about a week, and it got an update sometime this weekend when I docked it in my car. The love button worked as usual last night with no additional messages, but this morning, I also got the "push the love button to set beginning of recording" and "push love button to set end of recording" messages. A progress bar that I never seen before when loving songs also appeared at the bottom of the screen. Is it indicating a maximum save buffer for love songs?? did the S50 finally lose it's ability to love limitless number of songs??? If it did, that really sucks in a major way. That was one of the S50's best traits that set it apart from later models! The merger might be causing a bunch of changes in the system that could be bad for S50 owners.
Add to this, the now the more tedious way we have to love songs that does take our attention away from driving when we are listening to our S50s in our cars. It used to be an automatic no-brainer one push of the love button. now we have to catch the begining and end of each song with the love button???! I hope this new "feature" goes away!

Thanks All for replying. At least I know it is not just my unit acting quirky.

I found out since posting this that the love button does work as usual on some stations, stations that I do not listen to . BUT... I also found out that on the station that I have had my S50 locked to for the last 3 or 4 years works on only some songs! Unfortunately it seems like it works on only 1 out of 25 songs. So I guess it is song specific now. The station I listen to is one of the stations that combined similiar Sirius and XM stations into one common station. But I don't think it comes down to the old sirius songs working and the XM don't. You see... both stations, even though they play the same genre of music, were pretty good about not playing the songs the other was playing. So now there are more songs to listen to. But as I said, the love button does not seem to take this into account.

If this is something new with the merger I would think that Sirius would have to make some sort of statement, at least for those that might buy the Stiletto in the future. It does not work as advertised anymore!


Chombi, I cannot record anything at all when it asks to press to start and stop recording. If you can at least I'd be slightly happy.

I think i did get it to record when I pressed the love button as instructed. the heart logo appeared at the lower left of the screen and dissapeared after I pressed it again at the end of the song. It seems to have made the whole love song system into a manual procedure. Haven't listened to the ones I saved though. I still don't know what the progress bar was at the bottom, it seems to indicate some sort of limit to saving songs in the memory.....I'm really thinking that this will be RIAA's answer to the "rogue" S50 unlimted love song capacity. I think this goes against what we S50 owners expected when we bought our radios and maybe a basis for a class action lawsuit for S50 owners against Sirius?? It was only later with the Stilettos when they agreed with the RIAA to limit the loved song capacity, Now I'm hoing that the 250+ songs that I have loved into my unit will be OK for a long time!

i have an s50 also, and i noticed the same problem.

i have to hit love to start and love to end... but then i can't find the song through the playlist its hard to do while driving...

i am ready to cancel all three of my subscriptions and just use my iphone.

With mine I don't get the heart when I press the love button again. All I get is the message to press again to end. If I press the button again it goes back to the regular screen with the song name and artist with nothing saved. If I don't press the love to end the song it goes back to the artist after about 15 to 30 second delay, again with no saved song. Again today I confirmed that some songs will save the normal way and then the next dozen won't, so I guess that confirms it is not a 250 song limit.

Just tagging along since mine started to do the same. I'm pretty sure it has somethign to do with the merger as it only happens on the newly added XM channels that I tried. The old Sirius channels that I was able to 'Love' before still work as they did.

Jumping on the bandwagon here; I have a few more specifics though.

My S50 will allow me to "love" any song playing, however it seems to have different behavior either based on a random bug or perhaps certain artists have asked Sirius to block the love based on them being a bunch of greedy jerks. One other thing I can almost say for sure is that this new behavior started AFTER the channel lineup merger.

If you press "love" and have to set the record start and end, the song will be saved under "My Sirius Shows"

I am going to start compiling a list of artists that have the undesired "love" behavior just to see if theres a pattern here. I'll add various edits here and there when I notice songs that work and dont work.

If anyone at Sirius is does read this; please give us the official statement about this altered behavior.
