Default Jay Thomas Moving to Sirius Left Channel 146 ? ? ?

Rodney Lee Conover definitely leaned to the right side of the political spectrum. Jay Thomas as we all know, leaned heavily to the left. However, neither of them were zealots for either the far left or the far right. They had a great balance which is why I think the show appealed to a wide array of listeners (including me). In this day and age where even the major news outlets are either far left (CNN, New York Times) or far right (Fox News, any a.m. talk show) it was very refreshing listing to Jay, Rodney, and the listeners discuss all thing political and non-political.

Jay & Rodney, when together, possessed a rare talent which was the ability to discuss political issues from both the left and the right and yet somehow not turn-off either side of the listening population. Now that Rodney has left, the show has rapidly morphed into a mini-Air America. Jay leans left and that’s okay, he was usually offset and held in check by Rodney. Now with Shuli and Adrianne Frost, the show is now unlistenable. Jay has begun to sink to their far left leaning, elitist, close minded, view that is typical of the “I live in New York, don’t own a TV, read Kafka, surf the wireless at Starbucks” set. I think the truck drivers, who are a large contingent of TJTS, and many, many, many others will flee in droves.

I can only guess that being Jay’s sidekick does not pay very well. What other explanation can there be for Jay to be considering two individuals such as Suhli and Adrianne Frost that are so obviously devoid of talent and bring absolutely zero to the show. Lacking talent is one thing, but these two also manage to be very unlikable human beings as well. Quite a double whammy. Why can’t Jay Thomas see this? Who knows, perhaps he can, but Sirius won’t shell out the necessary bucks to hire real talent.

I'm saying that Adrianne Frost and Shuli both suck and that the Jay Thomas show is as good as dead.

I couldn't disagree more. First of all, the show never has been and never will be a political one. Just because those two idiots got into a few debates doesn't mean it belongs on Left or Right. As far as I'm concerned the downfall of the show has always been the constant political discussions. And much as I'll miss Rodney, the show will only improve without his ongoing political rants (e.g. global warming) that would often go on for long durations and just bore the audience to death.

And honestly, I think Jay has been on fire these past few days. I don't know why there's so much animosity towards Shuli or Adrianne because he's been funnier, edgier and just more full of life without a certain someone saying "moving on" every time he'd start delving into something funny. And no, I don't feel with those two on board the show's trying to mimic Howard's at all. The bottom line is whether Jay gets a new sidekick or not he'll do just fine, IMO.

I've never heard of Jay Thomas. I bought Sirius a little over a month ago just to hear Progressive Talk radio. That would be channel 146.
If Jay Thomas is not a political talker, he shouldn't even be considered for that channel. If he's a comedian, a humorist or satirist, he should not be put on a POLITICAL talk channel. As you mentioned, "political talk was his downfall". I would imagine if his listeners are listening to him for humor and not politics, then he should stay OFF politics. As for myself, being a political news junkie, I think Sirius needs some improvement in the area of Progressive talk. Any good, engaging, talented "political" talk show host, doesn't need a "sidekick".
Good political talk takes just ONE talented person who understands the issues and knows how to get the message across. Sam Seder has that talent and capability.
I'd love to see Sam Seder get the morning spot on #146. Or even Lynn Samuel's spot.
