Default boombox has improved lately....

just to flip things a little on the boards, i listened to boombox for quite awhile this weekend and things were looking up on there. there were a few more drum and bass tracks on there and repeats seemed to be down.

whoever is revamping things a bit is doing a good job (at least for now) and ive definitely seen an improvement over the past month or so.

more drum and bass please...we can handle the underground stuff...maybe even a mix show or two featuring dnb djs.

also, please dont cut kalifornia in the middle anymore like i heard today. kevin beber has programmed some of the sickest bass lines ive heard in awhile and right when it was about to hit my bass bins the dj faded into black sheep. :P

Boombox sounds GREAT when they are playing DnB and Breakbeats, I would love for them to add some Hard House too.

Also, the imaging is the best on Sirius. Lots of variety...this is really what every Sirius dance channel should sound like. It's ashame.

I do think that Boombox needs a Dnb mix show (they can throw in breakbeat as well but we don't need more rap mixes, even if they're old skool). I must say I am impressed that Boombox is willing to play entire songs, even if they're over 10 minutes

Did i hear someone say Hard House on Boombox.

Man that would be the best. I was a big fan of hard house. I'm a Dj too and I still once in a great while pull out them old hard house records.

I think a Hard House mix show should come first just to see how it flys

Boombox is awesome. Other than Howard, it's pretty much all I listen to.

Yeah, as long as they keep playing Drum n Bass and more funky/progressive breaks and less hip hop and Big Beat electronica kinda stuff, I think Boombox will form into a really, really good station. I like the higher BPM breaks, like 140+.

Default Boombox

I too have become a huge fan of Boombox. I was never really into house, DnB, but after listening to a week or so, I love the selection that they play, and I love the old school remi9xes that are spun.

Keep up the great music!!

yeah, i hope they cut down on playing the Deekline & Wizard (or something) song. song is great but i tend to get sick of it when i hear it all the time. kinda like the Benassi Bros' Every Single Day playing every time on The Beat. luv that song too!

I love BOOMBOX
Just wish they would move Gradmaster Flash's show over to Backspin were it belongs.
And start a real Weekend Mix show for this Channel...

Ok I recorded and scanned through about 20 hours of boom box this weekend. I must say it is probably the best programmed out of the dance channels. The music itself is not really my cup of tea but I like the channel for what it is. There were hardly any repeats in those 20 hours. So what didn't I like?

1) They seem very dependant on particular artists, you hear Chemical Brothers, Fat Boy Slim, Prodigy, Freestylers, DJ Icey all over the place. I'm sure there are many other artists that would fit into the format.

2) The Hip Hop. Ok I still can't figure what consitutes a hip hop song to get played on Boom Box. I mean isn't nearly all hip hop break beat? What the hell is break beat by the way? Here is some of the hip hop I've heard on Boom box

Rhymefest feat Kayne West - Brand New

Ok I love this song and I'm glad I found it, but why did I find it on Boombox?

Naughty By Nature - O.P.P. ????

Say what???

Lords of the Underground -

Can't remember which song, I used to love them in college (that was 10 years ago), you lost me there why is it on boombox?

Jurrasic 5

Ok cool I found a place where they play non mainstream hip hop, so why is it on boombox again.

I guess I get a little confused with the imaging from the Sirius webpage is this a hip hop station or a dance station?

"Old school, nu-skool, drum 'n' bass, hip hop and mash-ups. The home of the breaks!"

It sounds like a dance station with random hip hop thrown in for fun. I guess I don't see why we should have hip hop on the electronic/dance stations. They have no place for house music right now but they can put hip hop onto some of our bandwidth. The beat would be the logical choice for house since most of the mainstream dance hits are house.

Anyway I'm off topic, overall I like boombox and definitely wish they would program the Beat and Area 33 with the same kind of playlist depth and non repeats.

I agree Simon. I like the imaging and production on "Boombox", and the variety, but they need to cut the hip/hop and make it a pure breakbeat and drum and bass channel.
As far as the other channels go, I wish we could have one more dance channel. If so, I would make it an all house channel (kind of like the old "House Party" but with more currents). Then you could have seperate, dedicated channels for each genre. For example, you could have "Area 33" for trance, the new house channel for all things house (classic house, progressive house, etc.), "BoomBox" for breakbeats and drum and bass, and "the Beat" for the big dance hits. This would go a long way toward making the most people happy.
As far as "Chill" and "the Strobe" go, I don't really listen to either that much. ("Chill", I don't really care for at all, and I like the freestyle and 80's/90's dance on "the Strobe", but I don't care for the disco stuff).
