Default Ok, is it just me

or has a lot of new, or different music been played on Area 63? I hate making posts like this, because I often get disappointed a couple of days later. But over the last few days, maybe week, I've heard a lot of songs I haven't heard before, or heard lately. I listen to 63 A LOT, but it may still be subjective.

For example:

Boogie Monster - Armand Van Helden
Break Down The Doors - Eric Morillo f. Audio Bul
Cloudwalking - Pulser
Communication (Original Mix/Egil Edi - Armin
Dance Valley 2001 Theme - System F
Desire (Pete Lorimer mix) - Gus Gus
Dread Rock (rmx) - Paul Oakenfold
Electric Eclipse - Push
Energy - Mainbrain & Somville
Everyman...Everywoman... - Ono
Final Chapter - BK & Lab4
Freefall - Christopher Lawrence
Galaxy Of Time - D-Lution
God Music (original mix) - Dumonde
Clubber's Dream - Buckley f. Carolyn Lugo
Have A Good Time - 3 Speaker High
Hoochie Koochie - Maurice & Noble
Illusions (Marcos Mix) - Apogee
It's Just Another Groove - Mighty Dub Katz
Just One Look - Moodlex (Farina/Carter)

Ok, there's a TON more and that was only in the past 24 hours. Most importantly though, the repetition is WAY down. I knwo my ears are a hell of a lot happier and when I glance down and see songs, I actually have to push my display button to see who the artist is! Don't believe me? Well, here are some facts to prove it

Gonna break it down by day, the amount of 3 rep songs, 4 rep songs, and 5 rep songs. For example, yesterday, "Call on me" was played 5 times, thus it is a 5 rep song.

October 7th
3 rep songs - 20
4 rep songs - 5
5 rep songs - 0

October 17th
3 rep songs - 20 (again)
4 rep songs - 3
5 rep songs - 2

November 7th
3 rep songs - 8
4 rep songs - 1
5 rep songs - 0

November 17th
3 rep songs - 12
4 rep songs - 1
5 rep songs - 1

As you can see, the repetition is getting sooooo much better. I see lots of single songs getting played and even more two rep songs.. which is great! Do what I'm about to do... send Sirius a feedback via the dance pages and LET THEM KNOW that we appreciate this recent change. It seems they are finally getting a lot of new music in here and most importantly, really cutting down on the repetition.

Let's just hope this trend continues. It's nice being able to listen to my station again without worrying about hearing so many repeats. Hell, Lola's Theme actually came on today and I listened to it!

Yours in Dance

Neurorip,
I've noticed the same thing in just the past couple of days on "Area 63". I usually tape 90 min. of them in the morning to listen to later at work on my walkman in the evening and when I did this yesterday, I noticed a bunch of songs that I hadn't heard before. Also, I listened throughout the day in the car and at home and was noticing the same thing. It seems like someone has decreased the rotation of the currents and added in more gold trance and progressive house titles from the past 3 or 4 years. I heard one trance song from yesterday morning that I really loved and had never heard before. It featured the voice in the song saying something about 2002, so I'm guessing it was an older song, but it was a trance song with lines like "you will bow down and worship me!". It was awesome. Not sure who it was since I was listening to a tape I had made, but it was great. (this may have been a big song a few years back, I don't know, as I've only really gotten back into dance music again in the past couple of years.)
But anyway, you are not alone. I noticed some changes starting just this week myself. They are still playing the big songs that they've been pounding, like "Habanero", "My My My", "Slidestream", "Woz not Woz", etc., but it seems like the rotations have been decreased on these and in place of the repeats there are more gold and deeper titles that have been added. I'm with you, lets hope this isn't just some fluke, and that they are actually broadening the playlist a bit.
But you aren't the only one, I noticed it too. Now lets just hope we can get more personalites added back to the channel to talk about the artists (like the old Planet Dance).

Area 63 seems like it can only get better, as long as someone at Sirius is paying attention to it. I tend to use it as somewhat of a tool to find new 12" to spin at local parties, and I find that it helps out a bit. I, too, have seen the decreasing amount of repetitions and enjoy the newfound variety of singles on the channel. On another note, when they DO repeat something I don't like, I can usually switch to Remix to get a song I want to hear. :P

I haven't noticed anything new. Everytime I turn Sirius on it's the same stuff I've always heard. I've got a road trip coming up so maybe I'll give Sirius another shot.
