Default which way should I point the antenna?

I'm in Columbia MO which looks like is either in zone 5 or zone 2, does concrete block the signal?

Yes, for the most part concrete blocks the SAT signal. Now if there is a repeater in the area, it is more likely able to penetrate concrete.

That is probably a good possibility since in the Midwest the satellites are directly up for the most part.

Put the antenna on the roof and point it straight up.

You'll need to place your antenna outside on the north side of your residence and fold it down flat. To find the true northern side I would recommend that you use a compass. If you don't do this your building could potentially block the signal.

If that single window is your only option and it doesn't have a full view of the northern sky it may be nearly impossible to listen to Sirius at all times. Your only other option would be to place your antenna (folded flat) on a long piece of board or something and anchor it outside your window. Your goal would be to get it as far away from the building as possible to prevent the building from blocking the signal, especially if your room is not on the north side.

Another option is this, if your room borders the roof you may want to try aiming your antenna straight up and mount it near your ceiling.

Best of luck!

could my problem be due to lack of repeaters in my area? I got all bars in my car with both my car and home antennas

From Columbia, MO, you need to aim the antenna pretty much straight up, maybe just a little towards the north and tweak it from there. I see you're just north of being in the middle of the state.

Try that. Here's the map.

Although that map is fairly useful, I still take issue with the "straight up" thing. Get the antenna on the northside of your home and you shouldn't have any problems

I don't like that map.

You could do this... Pie Pan (sorry sticks, but it works for some people).

Point it straight mostly up and if you have a sloped roof put in on the side facing North. I am not far from you--I get perfect reception doing it that way.
