Default Popping sound on all channels...

I just recently installed and activated a Sirius system. It is an older XM ready Alpine head unit, but I decided to go with the Sirius Alpine tuner. It works great with the hu, and my sound quality is good except for a popping sound that is heard with the music... Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

After doing some checking, the sound only happens after the tuner gets warm. It will run problem free for about 10 minutes...

I get the exact same thing, except I have a Starmate ST-1 and I use the FM transmitter option. It's pretty annoying, actually.

I agree. I'm considering cancelling, but I'm hoping a new tuner might solve the problem... Hoping anyone with advice can reply...

If this is happening as your equipment warms up, then it's most likely equpment related and not an external source causing the noise..

I think the trick is to figure out what part of the system is causing the pops.. ( Is it the head unit, or the add on Sirius unit ? ) If your head unit isn't popping when you listen to FM or CD, then I would suspect it's the Sirius tuner that's warming up and generating the popping noise..

Did you buy a new Sirius tuner ? If so, see if you can take it back and try out another one before you cancel your subscription..

Yeah, I did buy it new, and no I definately don't get the sound outside of the sirius listening envirinment. I think that's what I'm going to do as far as returning the tuner and trying to exchange it. I only wonder about having to pay another activation fee and stuff like that...

Thanks for the help all!

That sounds like an over-modulating problem. The solution would be to turn the volume down but I don't think that's possible on the tuner unit.
