Default Sporster FM out wire

Well I finally got my Sportster all set yesterday from the nice folks at Circuit CIty. Was having problems and found that the original installer messed a few things up. Anyway the kid that helped me gave me a new release part, the FM out antena wire is about 8 inches long and has made a real improvement on reducing static. Just thought I mention this because he said these have just been recently been made available.

CC just made me a new customer! Best Buy credit card is getting trashed.

Very interesting Mark. Who makes it and do you have any pics?

It's just a little cable that's packaged with the Sporster.

Default FM booster cable

Not sure who makes it but the guys said they just came out a couple of weeks ago, it's just a longer thin wire antenna that plugs in the FM out jack. helped a lot on reducing some of the static.

I'm pretty sure it comes in the box with the Sportster!

Okay,

Sorry I misunderstood. I thought this was something new that improved upon the performance of the FM out antenna included with the sportster.
Thanks anyway.

Default Supposedly It is a new and improved!

Don't remember the cable that came out of the kit but that's what the guy from Circuit CIty said that it was a newer type and better FM out cable. I don't think the one that came with the kit was a lot shorter.

Meant to say the cable was shorter that came in the SPORSTER kit.

I got my Sportster on 12-23 and my fm wire came in the box with the receiver and car dock kit. I almost missed it because it was in such a small bag. At first I didn't know what it was.

Also, there were some previous posts about alot of static with this set-up. Someone said that they didn't have it plugged in all the way. Today, I checked mine and of course it was not plugged in all the way. Check to see if you guys have it plugged in all the way. It should almost click.

I have had some static recently, but hopefully now I won't have any.

All Sportsters should have the FM wires included in with the car kit. I have run into instances where installers do not realize the benefit the wires bring to the FM reception. We are working to make sure everyone understands the benefit the wires bring to the customer.

Hey Johnssat,

Thanks for the post. Is there an improved FM wire? I don't see how mine could work any better. I have no static (maybe I have the new version?). But this may be of interest to people experiencing static that have had their kit for awhile. Thanks

Default Sportster FM Out

I just wanted to let folks know that some Sportser receivers may have the FM Out recepticle mounted too far inside the docking station to allow the FM Out (FM Enhancer wire) to plug all the way in. That's how mine was, so I suspect others may have this trouble too. Attempting to plug the wire all the way in was unsuccessful... so I modified the shoulder of the FM Enhancer plug. Problem resolved. Check the pic...

Using a razor blade I trimmed about 2mm of plastic off all the way around. Two minutes later I was rock'n!
