Default How do I fix my antenna? It's ripped apart

Hi,
my antenna wire has been ripped apart. I have tried connecting them back just like I would with a regular audio or electric wire, but it didn't work. Seems like the antenna wires system is very complex with several woven wires outside and a harder thicker wire in the middle isolated by plastic.

I also tried just connecting the middle wires on each side and it didn't work.

Is there a way to effectively reconnect the wires? Or do I need to buy a new antenna?

Thanks so much

I just fixed my wireless antenna wire. The antenna wire gets sodered down in two places where you can see. The outer "woven" wires get sodered down, and the thicker wire must ne exposed and sodered down in the center on the antenna. It should be the same concept for the antennas, whether they get power or not. If you cant get it to work go on evil bay and get them from here

so it's nor an easy soldering job right? Keeping the outside and the inside soldered separately?

Thanks

It can be done, but it's not easy. It is very tedious trying to cut the wire without breaking the fragile wire inside. It's made just like television cable. Center wire, covered with insulation then a woven outer wire aver that. Carefully cut the black outside covering, and slide it off exposing the woven part. I use a needle or similar to "unweave" this part, then wrap it to one side, and twist it back to a single strand. If you made it this far without breaking it carefully cut the clear insulation layer off the center wire. You'll probably never get this the first time without breaking the center wire. Twist the center wires together and solder them. Twist the outer wires together and solder them. Insulate them so they can't touch. I usually tie a knot in the wire behind the repair, so that it can't be pulled apart. OR you could just go buy a new antenna for $30.00.
