Default UNDERGROUND GARAGE FESTIVAL LIVE EXCLUSIVELY ON SIRIUS

LITTLE STEVEN'S INTERNATIONAL UNDERGROUND GARAGE FESTIVAL IS LIVE ON SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO AUG. 14

Airs exclusively on SIRIUS' Underground Garage channel, produced by Little Steven

NEW YORK, NY (August 10, 2004) -
The groundbreaking music festival created by musician/actor/producer Little Steven (Van Zandt) taking place this Saturday, August 14 on Randall's Island in New York City will be broadcast live on SIRIUS Satellite Radio's Underground Garage music channel, created and produced by Van Zandt exclusively for SIRIUS subscribers.

Little Steven's International Underground Garage Festival will be broadcast live from 11 am ET until its conclusion at about 11 pm ET on commercial free SIRIUS channel 25, Underground Garage.

The festival brings together a decades-spanning lineup of more than 40 international artists whose music features garage rock roots and is played on Underground Garage, including Iggy Pop & The Stooges, The Strokes, The New York Dolls, The Electric Prunes, The Raveonettes, Nancy Sinatra, The Romantics, The Pretty Things, The Dictators, Mooney Suzuki, Big Star, The Pete Best Band and 25 of the hottest new bands.

"This will be the first of what will be an annual event but you will never see this group of artists gathered together in the same place again. So don't miss this one!" says Little Steven.

This is really cool. But you know what would be better is if more than than the few thousand members of SBS and the current Sirius subs knew about this.

Look at Little Steven's website. Not only is there not a Sirius link, we're not even listed on the radio station links that play his show once a week!

Did anyone see the promo concert bill? Not only is Sirius not on the thing, in addition to being sponsered by Dunkin Donuts, Pepsi, Gibson and a bunch of other businesses that want to be seen, Q104 radio is apparantly the radio station getting the publicity on the lower right hand of their press sheet!

http://www.littlestevensundergroundg...val/index.html

This concert is all over Yahoo and it's listed as a FRONT PAGE article on Comcast.com's internet home page. Not ONE mention of Sirius in the article!

http://www.comcast.net/News/ENTERTAI...dfa06a4dc.html

Maybe Jeff or one of the other guys that are in the know over here at SBS can shed some light on why we are getting NO EXPOSURE on anything by Little Steven. Is it him or does Clayton and the other higher ups only think the NFL is going to bring us enough subs?

After another round of suicidal stock action on Wall Street today with SIRI, I sure hope someone in that company will wake up!

Little Steven was on MTV2 the other night promoting the concert. I don't recall hearing anything about Sirius.

Be sure to let us know if there was any Sirius promotion going on there. Banners, t-shirts, Little Steven or anybody for that matter even mentioning Sirius on-stage etc..

It'd be nice to see if they do anything to help the cause over here.

I think I'll wear my Sirius shirt that day... (gotten months ago when Joshua Clinard made a batch to sell here)

I dont think Sirius is throwing any (much needed) money Little Steven's way to promote the show (based on Steven mentioning Dunkin' Donuts in every interview), Which also seems to make sense why Little Steven isnt promoting Sirius on his site...

From what I've heard and read, it seems Steven had no expectations of breaking even on this years show being that its the first... He's doing it to promote the genre, and maybe pave the way to making next years show profitable..

By the way Q104 is the only station years ago that gave Steven a chance to put his radio show on the air... In the NY Times article, Steven gave Q104 station mgr Bob Buchman praise for taking a chance on Steven's show...

And thru that show getting popular, thats how he was able to get a garage channel on Sirius... I can definitely understand why he may have loyalty to Q104...

Thanks for the info. I'm glad someone responded to kind of give me a clue as to what might be the problem with getting anything out of Little Steven.

I still think it kind of stinks if we've got to pad his pocketbook in addition to whatever he gets for doing the Garage show plus I think he does a couple of other shows from what I've read on the SBS message boards.

Personally, I think if he's part of the Sirius team he ought to playing like a team player. My 2 cents.

If he were a true team player, he would resign as programmer of Outlaw Country, a stream that's been essentially ruined since he took the reins of it (when it was the Border) in April. Let Little Steven stick to what he knows best, which is good old fashioned rock. He does do a good job with Underground Garage, and I'll be listening in on Saturday!

No problem... By the way, I dont have any inside info other than what was in the NY times...

Steven is part of the Sirius team, but I cant see him giving them free advertising if they arent sponsoring his show... It wouldnt be fair to the sponsors who have paid hefty amounts... Sirius is simulcasting the show, but thats because it will help them.. (By the way, do you know Bo Diddley's piece WON'T be simulcast on Sirius? No idea why, but assuming its because he doesnt sound as good as he used to and doesnt want a non-perfect set to be broadcast...)

Steven is gonna lose a lot of money on this show this year... He definitely loves the music, but I'm thinking that he considers his losses this year as an investment that could pay off huge down the line...

Steven's other shows are the Wise Guy Show, and Outlaw Country...

I'll be listening to as much of the show as I can between running with my kids activities and working Saturday. It's going to be great.

I think that's one of the things thats really been eating at me, is that since I heard him at the CES last year and then started listening to his show - I really like what I'm hearing and its been about a good 10 years since I started listening to any new bands that actually rock like when STP, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana etc.. came out. So I'm thinking, if he's reaching a much bigger audience 24/7 instead of 1 hour each week with FM, why are we getting the cold shoulder?

As far as the music goes, I'm on 25 as one of my first selections since it started. (For the most part, I'm a large fan of 16 The Vault).

Wish I could have been there with you. I had to hit the field today but was able to listen to a lot of the festival. I did hear Sirius promoted several times from the stage or at least what I thought was from the stage. It sounded like it was a very well attended event. I missed the English bands, were they good?

How did you get a backstage pass? I listened for a good portion of the day and thought it was a good event. I thought it was amazing that they got so many bands on like clockwork. That was quite a feat. I was surprised to hear that Nancy Sinatra has a new album coming out.
