Default Sirius on Droid

So far, nobody has written an Android app for Sirius yet...

However, I thought I should be able to get SiriusXMStreamer/Tversity to work on it.
I have it working for my PSP with the RSS feed, but I can't seem to get it to work on my new Droid. I get as far as getting to the Sirius feed page, but no matter what I try, the droid just downloads a "sirius.asf" file and then says it cannot play it. Why is it not coming as MP3? I've tried enabling the tversity mp3 encoding mode in SiriusXMStreamer, restarted the services, etc... but the result is always the same.

Has anyone figured out how to get this working? Thanks...

Nobody? Isn't there any way to get my home server to transcode the streams to MP3 and then send them out as MP3?

Of course, I'm just hoping we get a stream_on type app for android, but until then...

I dunno. I reckon when Sirius feels they can make money off of developing those apps they will.

Until then we can party

If they are smart they have one in development, but who knows? Clearly Android is gaining some traction especially on Verizon. I suspect that will continue until Apple finally pulls the trigger and gives the iPhone to Verizon. Even then I suspect many will still make a choice for Android based phones.

Hevean forbid the thought that not everybody would choose an Apple product if available.

Thing is, iPhone's official Sirius app disallowed Howard Stern on it for some reason. People were forced to look to homebrew alternatives anyway.

As did the Blackberry app since Howard Stern figured the gross national product of some small countries per year wasn't enough to get paid to provide programming to Sirius listeners. Hard to see where anything will change with the Android app in that regard.

Difference being that anyone can write Android apps, as it is already an open OS. So we can hope for a homebrew solution that enables full access to SIR. There's no reason there can't be. You can have it on the iPhone too, you just have to have it jailbroken so you can use homebrew solutions instead of the crippled official version that takes away Howard.

The problem with the homebrew apps is that you run the risk of getting a "cease and desist" order from Sirius/XM. What's the motivation for a programmer? There's no revenue stream to be had.

Once Sirius/XM made streaming into a revenue source, away went most of the homebrew stuff.

There are already 3rd party apps on the iPhone that gets everything that Sirius XM Internet Radio offers including Stern. Wunder Radio and Pocket Tunes. Pocket Tune evern lets you record Stern.
