So now we've had 3 shootings this month... maybe Dept. of Homeland Security was on to something after all:


The report, released in April, warned:


Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents [B]that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely.[/B] It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.

At the time, conservatives used the report to launch attacks on President Obama and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano. Michael Steele, for example, said the DHS was trying to "segment out Americans who dissent from this administration." A few of the other criticisms included:



[B] Rep. Bachmann[/B]: "To me, it looks like the extremists are those running the DHS."

[B] Rep. Burgess[/B]: "I don't know that the secretary understands the depth of the disruption that she's caused...I think the appropriate thing to do is for her to step down and let's move on."

[B] Rep. Boehner[/B]: "The report that came out of DHS was offensive, and unfortunately, Secretary Napolitano still has a lot of explaining to do."

[B] Rep. Peter King[/B]: "[Napolitano] has never put out a report talking about look out for mosques. Look out for Islamic terrorists in our country. Look out for the fact that very few Muslims come forward to cooperate with the police. If they sent out a report saying that, there would be hell to pay."

Sen. Ensign[/B]: "...this report raised some serious red flags about the mission of the Department of Homeland Security."
[B]
Sen. Inhofe[/B]: "I believe this report to be very offensive to many Americans."

[B] Newt Gingrich[/B]: "The person who drafted the outrageous homeland security memo smearing veterans and conservatives should be fired."

Just this morning Neal Boortz said that liberals would try to use the recent violence as a way to paint Conservatives/Republicans as right wing radicals who will use violence and bloodshed to spread their anger and hatred driven views on the the world. Bingo, winner, winner, chicken dinner!

These people are absolute loons, who in no way represent 99.99999999% of conservatives. I happen to reject most Federal and State authority myself, but would never consider harming others, nor would I ever harm someone because of race, sexual orentation, religion, etc. Pure propaganda from the left wing talking points machine.

I think you missed the point. DHS put out a release warning about these exact things a few months ago and republicans called it "crazy" and "partisan" and that it was aimed at making conservatives look bad. Turns out, the DHS was right. Psychopaths like these are always an extreme minority, the point is that republicans (as usual) take everything as an attack against them.

I've read that the Feds fear the "lone wolf" far more than they do the large, organized terror plot. Big plots are hard to keep secret--that's why we've managed to nip several of them in the bud in the past few years. But a lone wacko who lives only in his own head--there's no stopping him until he opens fire.

And remember, DHS also released an earlier report warning of left-wing extremism as well, which they defined more as cyber-attacks and crimes on "soft" targets.

It subtle, yes, but it does say(at least to me) "beware of conservatives, they're more likely to use violence to get across their point than other groups" and it also seems to relay the message that mainstream conservatives codemn these acts of violence in public but applaud them in private. I would think you would be offended, Captain. You may or may not ever serve in combat/theatres of war, but you will be ex-military or a vetran one day, one of those dangerous people. Your love of guns exagerates that point.

People are way more afraid of the random shooter than a cyber attack on their bank. Shooter=NRA=Guns rights supporter=conservative.
