I see now that it's tempting to think a thread titled "God God God God God" is a good place to discuss the specifics of your favorite ideas about gods, but that was not my intent.
Yes but in the Bible it teaches you to not worship another being object. Praying to a Saint (in may people's opinion) goes against that. You certainly don't have to agree but it isn't just my opinion. The Catholic Church has spent a lot of time and money trying to squash these beliefs.
The Catholic Church selected the texts that went into the bible at the Nicene conference and Catholics don't worship saints. They can pray to them to intercede on their behalf, but Mary (for example) isn't worshipped. The Roman Catholic church is pretty clear that only the Holy Trinity is worshipped.

We've always let threads take on a life of their own as long as there is no name calling, jackass.

To say that Catholics don't worship saints is false. Maybe the official stance is that they don't worship saints but their official stance is also against sexually abusing boys (we know that doesn't hold true all of the time). The official stance isn't even that they pray to the saints but rather they pray with the saints.

How do I know this? Because I was raised catholic and was "asked" (more like my family was told) to leave the church because I dared to ask questions relating to worshiping the saints (at age 8). The "church" we belonged to openly WORSHIPED the saints and said that it was the right thing to do (to show that they are above you and that you wish to be like them but most importantly to be a bridge between you and God). Since then I have done much research on the topic and have talked to many priests and bishops.

The term worship is heavily debated around the world and has been since man has been reading the Bible. To you praying to a saint may not be worship but to others it is. When people "make offerings" and pray to pictures/statues of saints I say that is full blown worshiping.

Ancient weapons and hokey religions are no match for a good blaster at your side.
