Default Americans are dumb babies

Poll: Cut deficit, leave programs alone, Americans say

Americans want to cut the deficit without cutting spending or increasing taxes (except on the wealthy). That isn't really news, but it's still flabbergasting.

At least the number who say the deficit is "dangerously out of control" is decreasing.

Yep. We're all fucking idiots. (And I say that without an ounce of sarcasm, believe me.)

I think if we had real transparency into the areas we spend (and waste money) I do think we could build consensus on what needs to be cut. You will never make everyone happy.

I would like to see a ban on earmarks, line item veto, and push as much responsibility for federal programs back to the states where it belongs.

The Federal Government should not be building or funding highways, schools etc. That should be handled by the states, let the states raise the funds needed. By sending the money to DC and then having to beg to get it back, we cost ourselves big time.

If the taxpayers want these programs in their states then they should have to pay for them.

Real (full) transparency is a misnomer unfortunately, but I'd like to see a lot more of it.

I agree with this part too, but I like the concept of the line item veto.

I like think the line item veto is great because the President is then responsible for everything that is in the bill that he signs, if he or she crosses it out, then congress must override him/her with a 2/3 majority.

Like Earmarks, the Line Item Veto shows what assholes they are (both sides) since they will speak out on these things, but they don't have the courage to fix them.

Agreed. I like that the president has the ability to delete stuff that gets slipped in. If it's really important congress can still take action. If they can get their heads out of their corn holes, that is.

Also agreed, both sides are arseholes.

That's 3 items today that we've agreed to. Maybe we should stop while we're ahead? :jj:
