Default Official 2012 NFL Offseason Thread

Looks like free agency signing is happening around the corner. I been watch SportsCenter and see the following:

Redskins-Rams trade
Redskins would get, the #2 overall pick in the 2012 draft and the Rams would get, the 1st round picks in 2012-2014 and 2012 2nd round pick.

From the Colts who got cut:
QB - Peyton Manning, RB - Joseph Addai, TE - Dallas Clark, LB - Gary Brackett and S - Melvin Bullitt

Colts free agents:
WR - Reggie Wayne, WR - Pierre Garçon, C - Jeff Saturday and LB - Ryan Diem

Colts are opening to trade DE - Dwight Freeney

To bad they couldn't reach a deal, the Giants release RB - Brandon Jacobs

So the free agency lineup looks pretty good for future teams.

I think the skins gave up to much for that 2nd pick overall. (RG3)

If the Broncos get Manning, they'll likely go after Wayne. I'd also like to see Brandon Jacobs here but I've heard nothing to that effect. Then they could focus on primarily defense, and some much needed Wide Receiver depth in the draft.

Huge gamble for the 'Skins. If RGIII turns out to be more Akili Smith or JaMarcus Russell than Mike Vick, they have guaranteed cellar-dweller status for the next half decade. Two number ones and a number two to move up four positions in the draft? That's pricey. I'm happy that they outbid the Browns, who were offering (at least) their two #1s this year to move up two. Now the Brownies will get (at least) the 2nd best non-QB player in the draft with another pick later in the first to get a quality D-line or O-line player.

This might be the move that finally destroys the Redskins front office for good. For them, I hope that RG-III a) doesn't suck, b) doesn't get hurt, and c) can take the DC media pressure if a) and/or b) happens.

Peyton is still in Denver. And the media is all over it. For all the talk about finding his location here, you'd think there was a bounty on him or something.

I watched a lot of RGIII over these past couple years (being a Big 12 fan). Just my opinion, but he'll be a very good NFL QB. He's a unique talent.....sprinter's speed, crazy athleticism, yet he's a throw-first kind of QB, and he definitely can throw it with anybody. If I were a Browns fan, I would have wanted him. Yeah there's always a chance he could be a bust but you guys haven't had a QB in years.

Years? How about decades. I recall that JaMarcus Russell was a draft lock as well. Probably a good move to get RGIII - talent but probably not an issue off-field. But a big price to pay for the gamble.

In this day and age you need an elite QB to win. You pretty much have to take the gamble IMO.
