The rumored
Sirius XM BlackBerry App was supposed to have been released by end of January, but here we are in February with no app in sight. What gives?
According to
Orbitcast sources, in addition to a comment
posted here, the BlackBerry App is in the final phases of being released and is planned to be made public by the end of this week. The comment specifically mentions February 4th, but other sources have said that date may get shifted slightly.
As we've seen in the past, Mel likes to have product/feature releases just before earnings calls. So the early-February date makes sense, especially since Sirius XM Radio Inc. has said that they will release their full-year 2009 financial results "in February 2010." The timing would be perfect if launched in the first week of this month.
Sources have said that this app is pretty much the same as the iPhone App. I wouldn't expect that Howard Stern would be included in this app (which, supposedly, is not a limitation imposed by Sirius XM but rather from Howard's side).
Either way, all we can do at this point is wait.
