I never used headphones or ear buds. At home, at work, and in the car I have speakers with subwoofers. Nothing in your ear can make your chest vibrate.

I have Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 Pro in ear monitors. They are phenomenal. It take a little time to get the fit just right, but the sound is perfect. You don't have to dial up the volume to hear all of the details. Downside: price. They were $350.

I also have the Bose over the ears noise reducing headphones. They're good too, but nowhere near as good as the UEs.

Sienheiser HD202s. Got them for $30.00 and they are pretty decent for that price.

Sheessh, I can't believe how much people are willing to spend on a good set of earphones.

But hey, if that's your thing, might as well get the best!!

I really like the Bose in-ear headset. They have a comfortable fit which stays in my ear. The sound is very good with an amazing bass response for ear buds.

I hear they are a decent deal for $100.

Please heed my cautionary tale: the z buds are complete junk! At first glance they seem great with their cloth cording, volume control, iPhone activating buttons, and mic. The sound quality is pretty great, not high end, but good bass and tones.

However, I have had 3 pairs and they have each fallen appart withn 1 week of starting to use them. They are made from cheap plastic and wire. They either short out or literally fall apart. The connection at the jack is so punny that it cannot bend without shorting the wires causing loss of sound in one ear. I've also had the casing of the actual ear bud and the volume dial fall apart exposing and ruining the soddering and wires inside.

Zagg does have a great warranty and replacement plan, but after having to replace the 2nd pair in was annoyed and they won't just give me my money back. After receiving the 4th replacement I'm just leaving them in the box. Definately a complete waste of money.

On the other hand, the iPhone headphones that came with my 3gs have inline volume and sound just as good as the zaggs. I also purchased apple's new in ear headphones, but there was zero bass and I returned them.

I really only use my in ear headphones when I cut the grass and when I'm on the treadmill so I really don't want to spend an INSANE amount on them. I don't have a noisy train ride for a commute or anything.

However, they do tend to take some abuse at the gym (I don't wear them while lifting, just cardio) and when I'm outside.

I've been using the Sennheiser CX300's and for the price, they are great. You can get them for about $20.00 on amazon right now. The only concern is that now, for a 2nd time, the sound in the left earbud is really muffled and pretty much not there.

So I'm shopping for headphones right now and want to stay under $40.00.

I found this thread on another forum, maybe it will help.
