By NO MEANS would I consider myself a geek YET but after testing Build 7000 if I didn't know any better I would think that Windows 7 is really Vista SP2 final.

The only major problem with Vista is the undeserved bad reputation it has. It wasn't any more or less stable than any other new OS. I use it on 2 PCs at home and it's been just fine. XP wasn't rock solid out of the box, that sort of refinement only comes after the software leaves the test lab and hits the real world for a while. I know plenty of people who hate Vista yet have never used it.

I probably won't upgrade to Windows 7 as Vista works fine for me. But like every other MS operating system, it'll probably end up on any new PCs I may buy in the future.

No one on the face of this planet ever said it is more or less unstable than any other OS. Stability has nothing to do with the backlash against Vista. It's based more on user friendliness, ease of use, intuitiveness.

I have been using Vista for almost 2 years and I like it fine. I agree it has an undesrved bad reputation. From the various podcasts I listen too, and articles I read, supposedly Window 7 is much, much better though. My laptops getting on almost two years now, so I will probably wait until I get a new machine to upgrade, then turn this one into a UNIX box.

I've found it to be at least as user friendly, easy to use, and as intuitive as XP.

I won't get excited about a new Windows unless it demands fewer resources than the previous version.

I think this was addressed big time for W7.

I think I might download the Beta and play with it on my Mac. I just wish it didn't expire.
