I think 7 likes about 12-15 gigs max...

You might have not done a full install, OR there is a 'recovery' partition that is still on there that usually takes up 15-20 gigs also...Depending..I had one before my laptop died, and I had to kill everything on it and do a fresh install, and it whiped my recovery partition, and freed up more room for my personal use.

I do remember seeing something about it saving my old windows files as "windows.old."

I guess I have to find it and delete it.

It still seems like I should have more room.

Did you click the "format" button (in the screen after "Custom Install" where you select which partition to install on)? I don't think it formats unless you tell it to (and it doesn't even ask)

My clean install is about 12GB.

Has anyone sucessfully used MSN Messenger ("Windows Live") on their Windows 7?

Windows 7 does a hard freeze (numlock key stops working) every time I launch Messenger. I had to go in through safemode and remove it from the Run key in regedit before I could get it to bootup in normal mode again (it would freeze at the desktop every time Messenger tried to launch)

I solved my own problem I had to turn on Compatability mode.

If you're not sure how to do this, right-click on Messenger (or any application) and select Compatability Troubleshooter. In this instance I selected the option for "This program worked on earlier version of Windows but now it won't install or run", then selected "Vista" compability mode, and now Messenger works properly

Very strange. After I selected compatability mode, it sent feedback to MS so hopefully they fix this problem in the future. I still find a very strange that an application can cause a hard freeze up (applications can't directly access hardware so W7 must be buggering up somewhere in capturing bad system calls)

Go into the C: drive and delete the folder called windows.old.

I had the same thing happen.

I chose to do the full so I could have the clean install.

I really use my MacBook all the time anyway.

If I really want to go back, I can and will, but I don't think I need to.

I do have an extra 160 gig from my MacBook that I could of used, but didn't.
Please tell us of any issues after the clean install.

You need the latest Live Essentials package for Windows 7.

Essentials - Windows Live

I do not remember seeing that.

I guess I'll have to reinstall tonight.

I did find that folder and it was 26 gigs. But that still leaves me with 26 gigs of usage.

I only installed FF3 and AVG (which I have issues with now).
