Yes, those Monster cables are a SCAM.

Besides, the people running the company are real assholes.

Wow that's a crazy price. I know cables are dirt cheap in materials, but 3 bucks and change for a HDMI cable, that's unreal. Nice find!

I love monoprice. They have every cable I pretty much could ever need for my home gadgets. I picked up a gender changer for a VGA plug and some PS2 cord extensions. Grand total was like $6 after shipping. Radio Shack wanted $25 for the lot.
