RIM is in real trouble. They will survive for a while based on their entrenchment at the enterprise level, but that can't last forever. Their latest BBM music service and latest generation phones show just how out of touch with consumers they really are.

Yeah that 19% they are holding on too is exactly that the enterprise business. Many corporations still don't see the iPhone or other Android phones as enterprise friendly. However, eventually they will pick one and leave RIM. It is just a matter of time!

The Android number really isn't surprising considering how many Android phones there are, not to mention all the ones that carriers like AT&T and Verizon have given away for free and/or buy one get one free deals.

You say free like its a bad thing. Imagine what Apple would be charging if it weren't for the free Androids

Nah, you've just turned into an overly sensitive Fandroid! hehehe

As I recall when Apple released the 2nd iPhone the 3G, they lowered the price and there was no Android phone. Imagine that! What is strange is those that sell Android phones with the free/open OS, still make less money per phone than Apple does. It called good design and the ability to buy needed build supplies at lower rates.

This is the very reason no one can touch Apple on the iPad. There build cost is so much less than it is for everyone else, yet when folks match there price they can't compete. It is only if they sell them at a fire sale are they actually able to move them. So, free is good for market share, free isn't so good for the bottom line.

Justin Bieber is pretty popular, too. Doesn't mean he's any good.

No but free is great for the consumer. I think we sometimes forget that not everyone can afford a $199 Iphone or Android phone. Let alone a $299 phone. I finally used my upgrade and got a Motorola Photon for $99 - $75 BB gift card and - $10 BB reward certificate. That really helped me decide to get it. When I called BB and ordered it I asked about discounted phones and how that kinda works. The rep told me that if Apple would allow it BB would discount Iphones too. Now I know you can never believe what a regular old rep says, but I'm sure some of that is true.

If anyone cares I will post a review of my new Photon. As of right now I'm really impressed with battery life and build quality. I could have held on and waited to see if Sprint was going to get the Iphone. I just felt as of right now I like Android and I love all the customizations I can do.
