i know lots of u will laugh at me but i just got my first smartphone last week. it the lg optimus m. from what i read its a solid mid level android phone. im havin tons of fun with the apps. the gps is some really cool shit too. i went with the lg cause i just ended my family contract with att and i decided to go contract-less with metro pcs. its $50 a month for everything.....unlimited.

what advice do u have for a novice like me? i have some cool health apps and angry birds rocks! but id love to hear what u all do with ur androids....

Get the Kobo app for eReading. Android

Don't install more than one or two apps a day.
That way if one is a battery hog or start to make the others go wonky, you stand a better chance of figuring it out.

Congrats on your first smartphone Koop! My first smartphone was with Sprint and it sucked! Hope you have fun it and I just recently discovered angry birds and that game is addicting, I'm finally on Level 2.

Is that true for the android? I think I heard of that before, I have installed dozens of apps on my iPhone and never have a problem.

That was just some advice given to me. I know a guy that got an app from someplace outside of the droid market and it messed up his phone enough he had to get it replaced. That's one of the super cool things about the app store, they do such a good job of proving everything.

Congrats! You're going to love your new phone. I have a couple threads in the Android forum with a lot of cool apps I have been using. Don't worry too much about bad apps and that sort of thing. It's a very small risk if you avoid apps from outside the market, and you read reviews before installing anything. Always read reviews before you install an app! And they recently put the market online:

You can browse from there and it will push apps to your phone when you tell it to. It's cool stuff!

I've had my Droid since July and still absolutely love it. It replaced my Blackberry Bold and my iPod Touch. It's been 7 months since I have touched iTunes and I couldn't be happier about that!

Use Google Voice for your voicemail. It gives you free visual voicemail along with all the other cool stuff GV gives you.
