Default HTC EVO 4G and Droid Incredible suffering from unresponsive screen issues

Uh oh: on top of reports that the EVO 4G suffers screen-detachment issues, we're also starting to hear that the touchscreen sensor is inconsistent, particularly when the phone isn't grounded. We've seen more than one report and video purporting to show the EVO's touchscreen failing to smoothly register touches when the phone isn't being handheld (and thus grounded). We haven't been able to reproduce the issues ourselves, but trust us when we say we've heard from enough unhappy EVO owners to believe that the problem is real. What's more, there's also an older video showing the same problem on three different Droid Incredibles, which obviously shares strong family ties to the EVO.

Any of you EVO or Incredible Owners seeing this issue! Seems Engadget couldn't recreate it, so apparently it isn't impacting every phone.

Thanks Agent! There is NO doubt it is a damn sweet phone. I think they will just get better. Seems Sprint got caught lying about how many they have actually sold, which was lower than they were initially reporting, but sells are still very good.

I have had the dreaded unresponsive screen issue, but only once.

I was playing music through my library while at work. I hit the power button to refresh the screen so I could check the time, and the music continued to play, but the only thing I could do was increase/decrease volume by using the buttons on the side of the phone.

The fix for this problem was for me to take off my Seidio Case (which isnt easy because they make them difficult to remove once you put it on the phone) and remove the battery.

Once I performed the battery pull, I waited approximately 10 seconds, re-inserted it, and presto! Problem Fixed.

It has only happened once in 13 days for me. I guess that's not bad. Everyone who owns an EVO is an early adopter right now. They should expect bugs and kinks...

In the five days that I had my phone it has only happened once to me.

Yep the price to pay for being one of the first.

I haven't had that problem as of yet. I hope I don't either. If so I can always take it back I guess. I remember when the Pre came out it had a lot of problems with the slider. I had that problem and it sucked. I took it back and never had it happen again.
